AI Video Production Complete Guide
AI video generation tools are one of the fastest-growing AI fields from 2024 to 2026, with remarkable progress in text-to-video generation quality. In 2026, AI video tools are mainly divided into: text-to-video models (Runway Gen-3, Sora, Pika, Kling) that generate short videos from text descriptions; AI video editing tools (Descript, CapCut AI) that provide AI-assisted editing, subtitles, and background removal; and digital human tools (Synthesia, HeyGen) that generate AI digital human explainer videos. When choosing an AI video tool, you need to consider your use case (short video creation/marketing videos/training videos/film and TV effects), video length, quality requirements, whether you need digital humans, editing capabilities, budget, and technical skill level.
How to Choose the Right AI Video Production
Define your use case: choose Runway or Pika for creative short videos, Sora for cinematic quality, Synthesia or HeyGen for digital human presentations, and Descript for AI editing.
Video Length: Currently, most AI-generated videos are 5鈥?5 seconds. For longer videos, choose tools that support extension or stitch multiple clips together.
Quality and realism: Sora has the highest quality but limited access, Runway Gen-3 offers excellent quality and is easily accessible, Kling performs well in Chinese scenarios
Digital human needs: For training, marketing, or explainer videos, choose Synthesia (more templates) or HeyGen (higher quality, multilingual).
Budget: $12鈥?0/month gives access to most tools; high-quality generations consume credits quickly, so assess your usage.

FAQ
Can AI-generated videos be used commercially?
Most paid AI video tools allow commercial use of generated videos, but with some restrictions: they cannot generate illegal or harmful content, cannot impersonate real people (except digital human tools), cannot generate content highly similar to copyrighted works, and some tools have additional requirements for large-scale commercial or high-traffic use. Recommendations: read each tool's terms of service, seek legal advice for important commercial use, make substantive edits to AI output, and keep creation records. Digital human tools usually explicitly allow commercial use, but you should ensure they are not used for fraud or impersonation.
Will AI video generation replace video editors?
AI won't fully replace human video professionals in the short term. AI video generation tools are currently good at generating short video clips and assisting with editing, but they still require human professionals in areas such as narrative structure, emotional expression, fine editing, color grading, and sound design. AI will change the video production workflow: editors will shift from manual editing to AI-assisted work plus creative direction, greatly improving efficiency. Video creators who know how to use AI tools will be more competitive. For simple marketing videos, social media short videos, and training videos, AI tools can already independently handle most of the work.
