AI Agent Framework Complete Guide
AI Agent frameworks are one of the hottest AI technology directions for 2025-2026, enabling AI to autonomously complete complex tasks, from web browsing to code writing, from data analysis to workflow automation. AI Agent differs from traditional AI conversations鈥攊t can plan tasks, call tools, execute actions, iterate and improve, and ultimately complete multi-step complex goals. Mainstream AI Agent frameworks include: LangChain (the most popular open-source framework), LlamaIndex (focused on data connections and RAG), AutoGPT (autonomous AI agents), CrewAI (multi-Agent collaboration), Dify (visual AI application development platform), and n8n (workflow automation + AI nodes). When choosing an AI Agent framework, you need to consider your technical skill level, use case (autonomous agents / RAG / workflow / multi-Agent), whether you need a visual interface, deployment method (cloud / local / self-hosted), and programming language preference.
How to Choose the Right AI Agent Framework
Skill level: Developers should choose LangChain or LlamaIndex, non-technical users should choose Dify or n8n (visual), and for autonomous agents choose AutoGPT or CrewAI.
Use cases: Choose LlamaIndex for RAG and data connections, LangChain for general agent development, n8n for workflow automation, and Dify for visual AI applications.
Multi-Agent Collaboration: Choose CrewAI or AutoGen when you need multiple AI roles working together, ideal for breaking down complex tasks.
Deployment method: For cloud service, choose Dify Cloud or LangChain Cloud; for self-hosting, choose an open-source framework and deploy it yourself; for local running, choose Ollama + open-source framework.
Learning Resources: LangChain has the largest community and the most comprehensive documentation, Dify has a Chinese community and tutorials, and n8n has a rich template library.

FAQ
What is the difference between AI Agents and AI chatbots?
AI chatbots (ChatGPT, etc.) are single-turn or multi-turn conversations. The user enters one instruction at a time, the AI gives one answer, and the user needs to guide it step by step. AI Agents are autonomous鈥攗sers give a goal (such as "research competitors and generate a report for me"), and the Agent autonomously plans task steps, calls tools (search, browser, code execution, file operations), executes actions, checks results, iterates and improves, and ultimately completes the entire goal. The core capabilities of an AI Agent are: planning (decomposing tasks), tool calling (using external tools), memory (remembering previous operations and results), and autonomous iteration (adjusting strategy based on feedback). Simply put: a chatbot is you ask one thing and it answers one thing; an Agent is you give one goal and it gets it done on its own.
Can non-technical users use AI Agent?
Yes, but you need to choose the right tools. For non-technical users, we recommend: Dify (visual drag-and-drop building of AI applications and agents, with Chinese interface and tutorials), n8n (workflow automation tool with AI nodes and visual connections), ChatGPT plugins/custom GPTs (configure simple agents through natural language), and Coze (ByteDance's AI bot development platform, visual). These tools do not require coding; you can create AI agents through visual interfaces and natural language configuration. However, more complex agents (multi-agent collaboration, custom tools, deep integration) still require technical skills. Suggestion: non-technical users should start with Dify or n8n, and after building some foundation, learn development frameworks such as LangChain.
